Downtown Mixin' Fabrics Trying to Find the Magic
I'm so excited that a new season of my all time favorite show, Project Runway, is upon us! I have always loved fashion & started reading Vogue at about 12 & dreamed of becoming a fashion editor in New York City. I'm thrilled with my career now as an interior designer but fashion is still in my blood & I look forward to the day when it will be an even bigger part of my life. A fabric is just a piece of fabric until the moment a designer transforms it with their ideas & skill & brings it to life. This infusion of passion & energy can turn even the dullest of fabrics into nothing short of sheer magic. A perfect example of this is Christopher's long evening gown. In his words he took a fabric that's "tacky & I hate it" & turned it into a total showstopper....
The back is absolutely killing me...classy, sexy & edgy all at the same time.
The original tacky hated fabric. It's looking very polyester to me...even more impressive!
What I wouldn't give for Melissa's leather vest...I love me a high collar & this would be an absolute staple in my wardrobe (although I would do without the long skirt & forlorn face)....
Ven's work is extremely impressive as well. His designs are evocative of the elegance & sophistication of Oscar de la Renta and Carolina Herrera...
I can't wait to see what magic the next episode brings!!

Sophisticated (Yet Playful) Summer Lounge
When shopping recently at Kravet at the D&D I was pleasantly surprised to come upon this fun yet sophisticated summer lounge vignette by Windsor Smith. I love Windsor Smith's style & her personality is just as endearing as I attended a lecture last year where she was on the panel. Not only does she create elegant & beautiful spaces & home products but she is also very warm, supportive & down to earth- truly an inspiring woman!
I am particularly smitten with this bar cart.....cocktails & throw pillows?! Two of my favorite things rolled into one (you have to excuse my terribly dorky puns ; ) I think this is genius & I'm so annoyed I didn't think of it. One too many cocktails? Just grab a throw pillow & rest your head on a piece of fluffy gorgeousness, you'll be feeling better in no time!
Feeling antisocial or want to make a phone call? Hop right into this chic pink & green cabana for one!
Thanks Windsor! Now I'll be pining for this lounge all summer....

Fireworks & Freedom
As I celebrate Independence Day with the rest of America I am filled with gratitude and thanks. Gratitude to God and the universe that my family, friends & I live in a country where we are free to express our beliefs & create any life we wish for ourselves. All too often we take for granted the freedoms we enjoy in this country so I am sending a huge thank you to our veterans (especially my grandfathers & some close friends) for their sacrifices made for our freedom & safety. I hope you all have a fun & festive Fourth of July with your family & friends wherever you may be celebrating in America the Beautiful!
